Name Change / Address Change – MCS 150

If a motor carrier changes its legal business name, DBA name, or physical/mailing address, the FMCSA requires that this updated information be submitted through an MCS-150 Update. Any time this type of business information changes, carriers must file an updated MCS-150 immediately, rather than waiting for their regular biennial update.

Submitting the update ensures that the carrier’s USDOT record stays accurate and the USDOT number remains active and compliant. Failure to update name or address changes may result in warnings, fines, or deactivation of the company’s USDOT number.
